Time to Start on Your Holiday Knitting!

15 Oct

I Know it might sound early, but the Holidays will be here before you know it! No need to panick just yet, but it’s probably time to get started if you haven’t yet.

I have just started myself, I won’t share what I have done or what I am working on as I want to keep it a surprise for the recipients, but I’m getting organised.

If you are short of ideas or are looking for some quick things to knit, here are some of my designs that you could use:

The Snowflake Cup Cozy is a very quick knit, perfect for the last minute or if you are short of time

The Toastie Slippers are also very fast to knit and perfect for the winter

Grow With Me Beanie will fit any child’s head, very practical if you want to knit for a child but are not sure of what size s/he needs

Or, if you are knitting for a child, you could always knit a toy, such as Fridolin the Bunny

From experience, I can say that knitted socks are usually very popular, why not try my Blois Socks?

Shawls are also favourites for elderly women relatives, I’m partial to Mela, embrace the asymmetry! The advantage of this one is that you can use any yarn and any gauge so it’s great to use stash yarn.

These are only a few ideas, there are many more things that you can knit for holiday presents, I hope it got you thinking 🙂

A Pair of Socks for My Boy

1 Oct

I just finished a pair of socks for my 7-year old. This was long overdue since the first sock was ready back in June, yes, June! Anyway, the sweet boy was patient and was very pleased today to finally have a complete pair.

I knit a pair of Hiss, using some leftover Wollmeise for the toe, a Regia cotton blend for the heel and a standard Regia sock yarn for the ribbing. The foot and leg is made in yummy Knit Picks Stroll Multi, I love this colour!

But, enough talk, here are a few pictures.

Blois Socks Pattern is Now Available for Purchase

5 Aug

You can now buy the Blois sock pattern directly from Ravelry by clicking on the “Buy Now” link below

The name of these socks comes from the Blois Castle (in the Loire Valley, in France). One of its most famous pieces of architecture is a magnificent spiral staircase. The side twist in this pattern reminded me of this spiral staircase. It is also the region of origin from my mum’s family and I have fond memories of visiting my Great-Aunt there as a child.

These socks with gusset and heel flap are knit toe-up.

Blois Socks – Pattern Published in Yarn Forward no 35

9 Feb

WARNING: It looks like YF states that W&T stands for Wrap and Twist. This is a mistake from them. The W&T in this pattern is for Wrap and TURN

I can finally share my Blois sock pattern! Today, Yarn Forward released a preview of edition no 35 where the pattern will be published soon, here’s a link of the table of contents for that edition.

And, here are a few pictures of the socks:

If you are interested in the pattern, edition no 35 will be available for purchase in UK shops soon and, online, at this location.

In 6 months, I will be selling the pattern myself and it will then be available on my Designer’s Page on Ravelry.

About the pattern:

The name of these socks comes from the Blois Castle (in the Loire Valley, in France). One of its most famous pieces of architecture is a magnificent spiral staircase. The side twist in this pattern reminded me of this spiral staircase. It is also the region of origin from my mum’s family and I have fond memories of visiting my Great-Aunt there as a child.

A Second Pattern Published on Knit Picks

18 Jun

My Candy Toes sock pattern went up for sale on Knit Picks yesterday!
I’m super excited about it!

My first pattern published on Knit Picks was my Agate Capelet.

Hearts for My Mum

6 May

My mum is going through a rough patch so I’ve decided to knit her something. I’m using some leftover yarn, so I have to make the socks short, otherwise I won’t have enough for two. I included hearts in the design, so she knows how much I care for her…

Here is the first sock I just finished. Knit toe-up.

Manly Socks

5 May

I had to go on a trip to France last week and decided to take an easy, mindless project with me for the train ride. So, I made this pair of men’s socks in bamboo sock yarn. They are simple, but I think they are pretty nice men’s socks.

I made them two-at-once on one circular needle, toe-up.

Skewed

28 Apr

I gave in the temptation and knit a pair of Skew for myself. I love this pattern, innovative, interesting, fun, well written. Here is my version, in Schoeller+Stahl Fortissima Socka Mexiko Color

Introducing My New Pattern: Candy Toes

20 Apr

My Candy Toes pattern is now published on Ravelry.

Edited: this pattern is now available in French too
Modèle désormais disponible en français !

I designed these socks for those who are not keen on Fair-Isle knitting, so that they can enjoy colour-work anyway. Thanks to the slipped stitches, only one colour is ever worked on a particular row, making them particularly easy and quick to knit.

Really, believe me, they ARE easy!

Pattern costs: $1.99
