Mosaiko (Baby Slipper Socks)

25 Apr

Mosaiko is a cute pair of 2-colour baby slipper socks, knit in sport weight yarn to keep baby’s feet nice and toastie. It uses such little amounts of yarn that it is a great way to use up leftovers in a fun and useful way.

They do not require complicated colour work as only one colour is ever worked per round.

Another Spaceman Nicolino for Nicolas

26 Nov

Last year, I gave the prototype I knit for my Spaceman Nicolino to Nicolas, who gave his name to this pattern. He was a newborn then. His mum liked it so much that she asked if I could knit him one for this winter as the first one is way too small now. So, here it is, modeled by my 6-year old (hopefully it won’t be too big for Nicolas).

Cowboy Booties Modeled

24 Jun

I created my Cowboy Booties pattern for a Texan friend of mine who was expecting a baby girl. Yesterday, I finally got to see pictures of the booties modeled by their intended recipient, lovely Miss Avery 😀

New Pattern: 2-in-1 Easy Swaddler

29 Mar

My easy swaddler is now published. Thanks to one of my testers, I even have a picture “in action” 🙂

When my boys were babies, I tried using swaddling blankets, but they just wouldn’t stay on. So, I bought a couple of specially shaped swaddling blankets, which inspired me to design this pattern. The idea of the pattern is to be able to use the item when the baby doesn’t need swaddling anymore. So, it’s in two pieces; one independent sleeping bag, onto which the “wings” attach to create an easy swaddling blanket.

Pattern costs $4.00

More details on the pattern are available on Ravelry:

My First Longies

15 Mar

So, after all these years of knitting, I still had to knit longies. These are not finished yet, but pretty advanced now. They will be for a friend’s baby boy to be born in the summer. I’m making them in a 100% bamboo yarn, that should be appropriate for the summer weather.

2-in-1 Swaddling Blanket is up for Testing

I am now looking for testers for this pattern. If interested, please check and reply here.

A 2-in-1 Easy Swaddling Blanket

28 Feb

This pattern is inspired by a special swaddling blanket I used when my sons were babies. I was always bad at using standard blankets for swaddling, so they really helped!

It can be used as a swaddling blanket and, later when the baby doesn’t get swaddled anymore as an independent sleeping bag

I’m about to write the pattern and have it tested.

2-in-1 Easy Swaddling Blanket

26 Feb

More progress, I’m happy about how this is turning out. I still have quite a bit of knitting to do, but here you can start to see what it’ll look like.

Some Progress

23 Feb

I’m working hard on my newest baby design, the pattern is really evolving as I’m knitting it, so I won’t divulge too much, just that it will be a 2-in-1 item…

Back to Designing for Babies

After a short break from baby designing with my capelet, I’m back to babies! Here is a preview of what I’m working on, the yarn is Bernat Baby Jacquards, “I’m a big boy” colourway

Introducing Loki Baby Set

12 Feb

I have finished the hat to match my baby vest and decided that that would be it for the set: a vest and a hat. I am naming it Loki, after one of my friend’s baby boy born last September.

Here are the first pictures, it still needs blocking, but it should give you a good idea. I now need to work on sizing and pattern writing before getting it tested.

This version is size 3 months

Hat to Match the Vest

10 Feb

A little preview, still in progress…

The Vest is Ready, but…

7 Feb

OK, now that I have finished the vest, I realise that I would like to do the hat differently and the booties possibly too. Or, maybe I will have socks instead of booties. The different possibilities are dancing in my mind and I’m just not sure right now. I will get working on a different hat pattern right now and will decide once it’s done whether it is booties or socks.

Here’s the vest finished, although it is still unblocked.

Getting There…

6 Feb

Another update on the baby vest 🙂
It’s going along as planned so far…

Vest Preview

5 Feb

A sneak preview at my new baby vest pattern. I started knitting today. I think it’s turning well…

And we Have a Hat

4 Feb

The baby set’s hat is just finished, I can now get working on the vest. I decided that the vest would be in a plain colour matching the booties and hat as I think it would be a bit too much to have three pieces in this same yarn.

Here are a few pics, I don’t have a baby at hand for modeling, so this baby does a lot of the modeling around here!

Working on the Hat of my New Baby Set

1 Feb

I have started the hat that will go with the baby booties I posted about a couple of days ago. It is made in the same sock yarn. I really love working with this yarn, it has bamboo in it and is so soft and pleasant to work with.

The completed set will also have a little vest. Stay tuned…
