Another Spaceman Nicolino for Nicolas

26 Nov

Last year, I gave the prototype I knit for my Spaceman Nicolino to Nicolas, who gave his name to this pattern. He was a newborn then. His mum liked it so much that she asked if I could knit him one for this winter as the first one is way too small now. So, here it is, modeled by my 6-year old (hopefully it won’t be too big for Nicolas).

Scarf & Mitts Set

24 Nov

I finished this set recently for a present. Two garter stitch-based patterns which go well together.

The scarf is “My Garter Slipped Scarf” and the fingerless mitts are the “Garter Stitch Mitts”.

The yarn is Melinda by Woll Butt.

Quite Proud…

2 Jul

For two reasons, first it’s crochet and it’s a new craft to me and, second, I sewed the lining inside the bag and that is quite a challenge for me! I really like the finished product, a cute little bag! It was a test for the designer.

Cowboy Booties Modeled

24 Jun

I created my Cowboy Booties pattern for a Texan friend of mine who was expecting a baby girl. Yesterday, I finally got to see pictures of the booties modeled by their intended recipient, lovely Miss Avery 😀

Crocheted Market Bag

14 Jun

I’m working on improving my crochet skill. I taught myself to crochet a few years ago but haven’t had so many opportunities to improve since. So, in order to do just that, I’m trying to take on increasingly challenging patterns.

My latest project is a market bag, made out of a 100% cotton yarn. Pattern is free and is here.

A Quick In-Between Project

1 Jun

Yesterday, I made a little cap in crochet as a test for the designer, it’s a really quick project, it took me about 2 1/2 hours to make. The pattern can be found here. I made it in a 100% cotton yarn.

Here it is, modeled by my 4-year old – he enjoyed the photo shoot 😉

Connor’s German Socks

27 May

I just finished a very simple pair of socks for my 4-year old son Connor. They are made using Regia Nations, the Germany colour. Knit top down with a short row heel with 48 stitches.

A Last Minute Birthday Present

11 May

One of my sons is invited to a birthday party tomorrow for a 6-year old girl. I decided to knit her a little something in addition to the present we bought for her. I used some leftover sock yarn from my Skew socks to knit a little bracelet. The pattern is part of my Spring Has Sprung hat pattern. It’s a super quick knit (about 20 mins), perfect for a last minute present…

Introducing My New Pattern: Candy Toes

20 Apr

My Candy Toes pattern is now published on Ravelry.

Edited: this pattern is now available in French too
Modèle désormais disponible en français !

I designed these socks for those who are not keen on Fair-Isle knitting, so that they can enjoy colour-work anyway. Thanks to the slipped stitches, only one colour is ever worked on a particular row, making them particularly easy and quick to knit.

Really, believe me, they ARE easy!

Pattern costs: $1.99

More details on the pattern are available on Ravelry:

My First Longies

15 Mar

So, after all these years of knitting, I still had to knit longies. These are not finished yet, but pretty advanced now. They will be for a friend’s baby boy to be born in the summer. I’m making them in a 100% bamboo yarn, that should be appropriate for the summer weather.

And we Have a Hat

4 Feb

The baby set’s hat is just finished, I can now get working on the vest. I decided that the vest would be in a plain colour matching the booties and hat as I think it would be a bit too much to have three pieces in this same yarn.

Here are a few pics, I don’t have a baby at hand for modeling, so this baby does a lot of the modeling around here!

Working on the Hat of my New Baby Set

1 Feb

I have started the hat that will go with the baby booties I posted about a couple of days ago. It is made in the same sock yarn. I really love working with this yarn, it has bamboo in it and is so soft and pleasant to work with.

The completed set will also have a little vest. Stay tuned…

New Baby Pattern

29 Jan

Just a quick preview of a baby pattern I’m working on at the moment. Can you guess what it is?

What I can share is the choice of yarn; I’m using a beautiful bamboo blend sock yarn from Schoeller + Stahl.

Tiny Shoes

29 Jan

I made these teeny, tiny baby shoes yesterday as a birth present for a friend’s little girl. They are super quick and use a tiny amount of yarn. I used some leftover Regia sock yarn and it worked really well. I didn’t even plan to make them identical, I just started the second one where I stopped the first one and they turned out virtually identical!

I’m curious to see these on a baby’s feet, as I’m not convinced I like them yet.

Pattern is Tiny Shoes from Ysolda. Yarn is 4-ply sock yarn “Best of Effects 2” by Regia in colourway 6800.

After a little wait, I can now announce that the pattern for the Cowboy Booties is available. Thanks to the very valuable help from my testers I can now offer a smooth pattern.

Pattern costs $5.00

These booties will make a perfect baby shower gift, and not only for Texan babies!

They have an internal bootie with ribbing at the ankle (cannot be seen when worn). The boot part is added onto it, so that it will stay on baby’s feet.

The colour work is charted.

A Birthday Present I Just Finished

11 Jan

This is the second time I knit this pattern and once again it’s for a present. I really love it, it’s so stylish, yet so easy and quick to make!

Here are a few pics:

Pattern “Quincy” can be found here.

The Testers are at Work

7 Jan

And, thanks to their help, I should be able to publish the Cowboy Booties pattern soon, probably Monday at the latest. So, stay tuned!

Here is a preview of a work in progress from one of the testers

Leftover Slippers Finished

7 Jan

These turned out to be a proper leftover project! It turned out that I did not even have enough of the green yarn left to make the whole foot of the second slipper, so I sneaked a bit of red in there. Nevertheless, I think they turned out really cute and Connor loves them!
