A 2-in-1 Easy Swaddling Blanket

28 Feb

This pattern is inspired by a special swaddling blanket I used when my sons were babies. I was always bad at using standard blankets for swaddling, so they really helped!

It can be used as a swaddling blanket and, later when the baby doesn’t get swaddled anymore as an independent sleeping bag

I’m about to write the pattern and have it tested.

2-in-1 Easy Swaddling Blanket

26 Feb

More progress, I’m happy about how this is turning out. I still have quite a bit of knitting to do, but here you can start to see what it’ll look like.

Some Progress

23 Feb

I’m working hard on my newest baby design, the pattern is really evolving as I’m knitting it, so I won’t divulge too much, just that it will be a 2-in-1 item…

Pictures of Loki Baby Set

It’s now blocked and, here is what it looks like:

I’m working on the sizing and will write the pattern shortly.

Back to Designing for Babies

22 Feb

After a short break from baby designing with my capelet, I’m back to babies! Here is a preview of what I’m working on, the yarn is Bernat Baby Jacquards, “I’m a big boy” colourway

Agate Capelet is up for Testing

19 Feb

A few pictures of my latest design, a capelet. It is named after the stone agate. A geologist pointed out to me that it looked like an agate, so Agate it had to be! It is now up for testing, check here if you are interested and reply in the thread.

It is made out of two different colourways of sock yarn. I designed it specifically with the Zauberball in mind, but any sock yarn with long colour repeats will have the same effect. Of course, you can also use two plain colours.

Finished Knitting New Pattern

18 Feb

It’s blocking right now, I will post more pictures once it’s dry. Stay tuned…

Spring Has Sprung Pattern is Available

15 Feb

I wrote this pattern especially with bamboo yarn in mind. I wanted to design a spring hat with a girl and a boy version and bamboo yarn makes me think of spring. It has a lovely shine to it that reminds me of sunny spring days.

The body of the hat is identical in both versions. The girl version includes a little bracelet, just for fun!

Note: this pattern is for both boy and girl versions

Pattern costs $3.75

Necessary skills
Knitting in the round, Kfb, picking up stitches, Kitchener stitch

Pattern in 2 children sizes:
Small: 2-4 years – Circ 38-48 cm (15-19”)
Large: 5+ years – Circ 42-56 cm (16½ -22”)

More details on the pattern are available on Ravelry:

Working on a New Design

14 Feb

As I’m finished knitting the baby set, I have started a new project, which will also be a new pattern. Here is a little preview. Any guesses? All I can say is that the yarn is Zauberball by Schoppel Wolle in two different colourways.

Introducing Loki Baby Set

12 Feb

I have finished the hat to match my baby vest and decided that that would be it for the set: a vest and a hat. I am naming it Loki, after one of my friend’s baby boy born last September.

Here are the first pictures, it still needs blocking, but it should give you a good idea. I now need to work on sizing and pattern writing before getting it tested.

This version is size 3 months

Hat to Match the Vest

A little preview, still in progress…

Spring Beanie Pattern Soon to be Published

9 Feb

My testers are hard at work and, thanks to them, I should be able to publish the pattern very soon, I’m hoping before the week-end. Here are some of their versions, the boy version is not finished yet:

The Vest is Ready, but…

7 Feb

OK, now that I have finished the vest, I realise that I would like to do the hat differently and the booties possibly too. Or, maybe I will have socks instead of booties. The different possibilities are dancing in my mind and I’m just not sure right now. I will get working on a different hat pattern right now and will decide once it’s done whether it is booties or socks.

Here’s the vest finished, although it is still unblocked.

Getting There…

6 Feb

Another update on the baby vest :)
It’s going along as planned so far…

Vest Preview

5 Feb

A sneak preview at my new baby vest pattern. I started knitting today. I think it’s turning well…

And we Have a Hat

4 Feb

The baby set’s hat is just finished, I can now get working on the vest. I decided that the vest would be in a plain colour matching the booties and hat as I think it would be a bit too much to have three pieces in this same yarn.

Here are a few pics, I don’t have a baby at hand for modeling, so this baby does a lot of the modeling around here!

Hook Book

2 Feb

Today I finished a test I’m doing for the designer. Not knitting, but crochet. I’m trying to get into crochet so I grab all opportunities to get better.

The pattern is for a hook book, to keep crochet hooks. I thought it would work well for my interchangeable circular needles, so I gave it a go!

It still needs blocking, but it’s finished – and full!

The front has the stripes, the back is all blue. And you can see how full it is in the picture where it’s open…

Working on the Hat of my New Baby Set

1 Feb

I have started the hat that will go with the baby booties I posted about a couple of days ago. It is made in the same sock yarn. I really love working with this yarn, it has bamboo in it and is so soft and pleasant to work with.

The completed set will also have a little vest. Stay tuned…
